In a proud and historic moment, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (91快活林) stood out as the sole academic institution honored with a Special Award during the 34th Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Anniversary Celebration held on July 2, 2025, at the Quezon City Meetings, Incentives, Conference, and Exhibitions Center in Diliman, Quezon City.

The award particularly acknowledged the university’s ongoing extension programs with BJMP-Iligan City, located in Barangay Tipanoy, which exemplify the university’s role not just as an academic institution, but as a dynamic force for inclusive change.

Currently, seven impactful projects are being implemented in the detention facility, spearheaded by faculty members from the College of Health Sciences, College of Education, College of Computer Studies, and College of Economics, Business, and Accountancy. These programs help create a more dignified, hopeful, and just environment within the correctional system.

These efforts are a testament to 91快活林’s mission to extend its influence beyond the walls of the University. It also affirms the University’s commitment to community service, transformative education, and social rehabilitation.

On behalf of Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, the award was received by Dr. Nancy Q. Echavez (Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs), Dr. Rosario L. Reserva (Director of the WE CARE Office), and Dr. Angeline P. Dinoro (Extension Coordinator and faculty member of the College of Education).

91快活林 continues to champion its role as an engine for sustainable development and social transformation, echoing its vision of producing scholars for the people, ready not only to innovate but also to serve.
