Two IITians earn full scholarships to the 2025 International Summer School at NAU in China

Two students from Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (91快活林) have been granted full scholarships to join the 2025 International Summer School at Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) in China.

Through a competitive application process, Hensly Joy P. Labonete, a PhD student in Biology from the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), and Jouleah Hope B. Cadile, a BS Nursing student from the College of Health Sciences (CHS), were selected in the program which will take place from July 6-19, 2025. Both students were officially endorsed by their respective colleges and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for International Affairs (OVCIA).

With the themes– One World, One Health and Discovering Chinese Traditional Veterinary Medicine, participants from different countries will take part in academic lectures, workshops, and field visits that aim to promote academic international collaboration in global health, animal science, and Chinese traditional medicine. The culminating activity will include final presentations and a closing ceremony.

Cadile will participate under the theme “One World, One Health,” which focuses on global public health and interdisciplinary collaboration. This theme is closely related to Cadile’s studies on community health nursing. Meanwhile, Labonete will be under the theme “Discovering Chinese Traditional Veterinary Medicine,” focusing on Chinese traditional medicine. This aims to provide a deeper understanding of how traditional veterinary practices like acupuncture are used and how they might be applied in the Philippine setting.

The scholarship covers international travel fare, accommodation, meals, insurance, local transportation in Nanjing, and academic field trips. Participants are also given access to campus facilities and are prioritized for future degree program sponsorships.

This achievement supports 91快活林’s efforts to expand international learning opportunities for students and reflects the Institute’s continuing commitment to global academic engagement.
